Since the Afghanistan war, U.S. veterans’ suicides have formed a silent, tragic epidemic. More military personnel have died by suicide than died in the war.
In the nine years from 2008 and 2017, 60,000 men and women veterans killed themselves. In 2019 rates of suicides among returned service personnel are still increasing, according to a report from the U.S.
